We have more time to travel, possibly more money available and just because we're older, it doesn't necessarily mean we're unwell.

However, insurers use statistical tables that apparently show that the older we get, the more chance there is that we will make a claim on a travel insurance policy and that the claims are higher if we do. So virtually all policies have what's called an upper age limit. However, these will vary from one insurer to another.
